Happiness

Our latest brief required us to come up with a portrait that depicts happiness - completely open to interpretation. I immediatly thought of my friend Noah whom Ive known for about 10 years or so. He is the happiest person in the world and can always guarantee to put a smile on your face so he was happy to oblige and pose for a wee photo for me

i think the final image really says it all.

also this was taken on the Hasselblad our college has and it was so much fun but scary handling such an expensive piece of kit!!

Deconstruction.....

This weeks project wasn't a 'take a photo project' but merely 'destroy a photo project'. To experiment with finishes for our images and that they dont need to be perfect prints from a professional lab but to make our work unique we can put our own stamp.

these are scanned but you'll get the idea hopefully!!

One i spilled bleach over and let it run then the other has been soaked, folded and then scratched with a scourer.

Drama

Next college project involves creating an image with tension or drama. My initial idea was a shot of two elastic bands pulling away from each other.... and although I did like my final shot I just wasn't satisfied with it. My trusty close has came in handy for a few shoots in the past and I created my image with a wide angle lens shot from a low angle and voila drama was created....

Modelling Commission

I was commissioned by a local model, Gillian Murphy, to help update her modelling and beauty paegent portfolio. The local park is a great location and we took these shots in the woodland part which is off the track next to the fossil grove. Much fun was had although a slightly cold day. Poor Gillian wore little clothing in some of it!

Get in Focus.......

Project is completely the opposite this time - defocus the camera to create a few images which focus on colour or shape.

Presence....

To me this project was pretty obvious for some reason. my first thought was a shadow on a surface of a person and I thought this would be other peoples first thought too so I was a bit unsure about showing my image to my class and tutor but was pleasantly surprised that I got a good reaction. I guess I thought about it too much and I also feel like I didnt put much effort into it either - it took ten minutes to shoot and a pretty basic set up. I thought it should have been more creative.

So glad thats over... now moving on to next one week project which is..... FOCUS

Seminary visit part II

So I trekked along to St Peters for a 2nd time and took along my friend Rosie to check it out and do a shoot. It was pouring of rain so much that when we got there the building was making all sorts of funny noises and it was even harder to get in due to level of water.

Two guys turned up - one with a pitchfork - and were checking the place out for a shoot themselves. we were a bit freaked but they were cool but we did not expect to see anyone!!

As big and exciting this location is, we couldnt figure out what we wanted to get out of the shoot as it was pouring so much and there were so many bits to check out, we ended up takin a few snaps then heading home.

Visit III will im sure be sometime soon!!

College is back!

Final year has begun!!

3 days in and I have 3 briefs to get stuck into. 1st one due in next week :s
no messing about this year!!

Ghost at the seminary

So the summer brief which i had so many ideas for finally came together once i visited the seminary (and had a peek at other classmates work for inspiration) and felt a priest ghost lurking at the alter would look quite cool, so I worked on the folowing image and im pretty happy with it as my photoshop skills are still in progress!!

any crit good or bad is more than welcome!!

Recce at St Peters Seminary

Headed to an old seminary which has closed down and ruined by a fire and is now derilect and pretty dangerous TBH. Went to check the place out to see what its like for myself (took forever to find but was worth it!)

I honestly didnt know what a seminary was when i went but knew it was some sort of school and was very confused to the little rooms. Turns out it was the priests bedrooms... very creepy and dingy but an amzing site. Definetly recommend a visit, I'll certainly be going back again.
